About Hanson Arts

Hanson Arts
Hanson Arts, formerly Hanson Community Arts, was founded by Alastair Hanson in 2017 when a collection of local music groups lost their rehearsal space, and Alastair offered the premises of Hanson Musical Instruments as a place for these groups to rehome. After the initial move, things went great and more local interest gathered for the groups, leading to more groups being formed and more teachers and musicians getting invlved in the project. After not very long, Hanson Arts was a thriving project with hundreds of people on and off the premises every week to take part in private lessons, music groups and choirs.
Unfortunately in 2020, when COVID hit and things could no longer happen in person, Hanson Arts had to move online and adapt to the times. This is where the birth of the Hanson Arts platform took place. Originally it was a place for groups to come and download music and join the weekly zoom sessions. Now our goal is to grow the community we have and grow our cohort of teachers and musicians to provide a place for everyone to learn in their own way. We want to do this by allowing anyone in the world to access our growing library of lessons, and connect you with your perfect teacher.

Hanson Musical Instruments
As mentioned above, Hanson Arts started out on the premises of Hanson Musical Instruments, and when things are running in person, this is where live sessions take place. Part of the Hanson Group, Hanson Music is a family firm based in Marsden, West Yorkshire, England. Owned by the Hanson family: husband and wife Alastair and Jenny Hanson who have two daughters; Lucy and Eleanor, baby brother Robin, a beloved spaniel Sasha, five rabbits and six chickens. The company has been running since 1989 and over those 30+ years we have gained a reputation for sustainable, ethical working practices and our experience and expertise.
